Compounding, prescriptions, and a gift shop full of finds — cared for by the Garrett family in the Cumberland foothills for more than four decades.
We've kept the lights on in Byrdstown since the day Doug bought the shop in September of 1980. The Clarkrange store carries that same care a little further down the road.

For decades, our Byrdstown location has carried farmhouse candles, framed signs, charcuterie boards, monogrammed gifts, and seasonal finds alongside the prescriptions. It's the kind of shop where you come in for cough syrup and leave with a birthday present.
In September of 1980, Doug and Debbie Garrett bought a small pharmacy on the Courthouse Square in Byrdstown and renamed it Garrett's Drug Center. Doug became the first pharmacist from Pickett County to personally own his own pharmacy — a quiet milestone that meant everything to a town that takes care of its own.
Four years later, in September of 1984, a fire swept through downtown and destroyed the building along with several other businesses. The Garretts rebuilt at 8456 Hwy 111, where we've kept the same doors open ever since. A second store followed in Clarkrange, carrying that same care a little further down the road.
Forty-six years on, you'll still find a Garrett behind the counter. The shelves have changed. The faces of the families we serve are now grandchildren of the families we started with. The promise hasn't moved.
Fill out the slip and we'll have your prescription waiting when you stop by. Prefer the phone? We'd love to hear your voice.
